A car crashed into a fuel tanker in  Uganda today on Sunday killing 29 and wounding many others. According to police sources, the victims had rushed to the tanker to siphon fuel when the explosion occurred.

Twenty motorists were burnt to death. They were using the motorbikes to transport the siphoned fuel. Another 20 are hospitalized nursing serious burns.

Uganda acts as a transit for oil and other petroleum products for landlocked countries like Rwanda, Burundi and eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

People were rushing to douse the fires in a nearby swamp. Several bodies were found in the water.
