Mutula Kilonzo Win Sustained
« on: August 20, 2013, 11:13:02 AM »
An application to challenge the election of Mutula Kilonzo Jr. as the senator for Makueni County has flopped. The High Court threw out the application on Monday and sustained the win by the son of the former Senator Mutula Kilonzo.

The application had been presented by Mr Sammy Mutwanyaa who wanted the court to declare the process that led to Kilonzo's election illegal by claiming that his nomination contravened the law. In his application, Mutwanyaa said the nomination of Mutula Kilonzo Junior by Wiper Democratic Movement was not in compliance with section 13 and 16 of the Elections Act of 2011.

Mutula Kilonzo Jr. won the seat in June by a landslide laving his closest competitor trailing behind with over 150, 000 votes.
