How to find out whether it’s Love, Lust or Infatuation

Love can be a tricky thing. For most people it’s about how you feel and never about what you know. Once we meet someone who catches our eye and makes our heart flutter like a kid’s in elementary school. While it may be hard to separate love, lust and infatuation, by following these steps, you can have a clear picture of your interest levels, and where they will take you.

The first thing is to seriously get to know how you look at the person in question. If they were in a burning house would you steal the local fire engine just to save them? Do you see them as an object or do you have a bigger emotional bond to share? Find out whether you can stick with them through hell or deep winter. This will help you get a picture of where you place them in your life.

Search your soul to find out whether you can trust them. With love, there comes a deep trust as you feel like you have known the person for a very long time. With infatuation and lust it’s different however, you are afraid of losing them to the next person. Love liberates, lust doesn’t and infatuation only has the other hand can grow into love. Lust can’t.

The time you have been with anybody can act as a good truth meter to determine whether they really hold a special place in your life. You can never stick with people who don’t interest you. If you love the time you spend with your partner, it may be love or the blossoming of it.

Another thing you need to look at is the sex. Does it bring you closer or it moves you parts. Do you love it or just do it to please your partner? Do you feel guilty of sex? We have the best of sex with people we have a close relationship with. Women are actually more able to climax with a lover than when in a casual fling or a one night stand.

How you handle conflicts in your relationship can also determine the levels of attachment you have for each other. Someone who loves you would never take you through hell. If your partner constantly puts you down, it may be time to reconsider the relationship.

They say love like life is bitter sweet. It therefore requires us to approach it with great understanding so it turns out to be the best time of our lives and not a source of pain and regret.
